Itinerary

Day 1 | Jember / Kalibaru - Meru Betiri National Park - Sukamade (L, D)

Our adventure begins in the morning with a 4WD Jeep safari to Meru Betiri National Park. En route, you'll be immersed in the local landscape, passing through traditional villages, alongside canal rivers, and amidst sprawling plantations of coffee, cacao, and rubber. We'll make fascinating stops to observe the traditional art of coconut sugar processing by the villagers. Following lunch at a local eatery, we'll enjoy a stroll along Rajegwesi Beach, encountering a charming fisherman's village at the national park's entrance. The Jeep then takes us deeper into the wilderness towards Sukamade, navigating through lush jungle terrain, more rubber, cacao, and coffee plantations, and crossing several rivers. We'll arrive at Sukamade Guest House by late afternoon for our overnight stay. After a simple dinner, the true highlight awaits: a turtle observation excursion. We'll travel by jeep to the Sukamade Ranger Post for necessary registration and a briefing, then embark on a quiet night walk to the beach. With good fortune, you may get to witness the incredible sight of turtles laying their eggs on the sand. We'll head back to the Guest House near midnight.

Day 2 | Sukamade Village: Jungle Walks & Rubber Factory (B, L, D)

Get ready for a truly memorable day with an early wake-up call to release baby turtles! Our journey begins before the sun is rising with an exciting Jeep safari to Sukamade beach. At the ranger post, you'll receive buckets filled with tiny baby turtles, eager for their first taste of the ocean. Afterwards, you'll continue your walk into the forest to see the Rafflesia zollingeriana plants. A local ranger will be your guide, providing plenty of information about the forest, its rules, and the unique flora and fauna you'll encounter along the way. We hope to spot animal footprints, nests, hornbills flying overhead, and even Javanese black monkeys. Once you're done, you'll head back to the ranger station to visit the turtle hatchery. Afterward we'll head back to the guest house for a hearty breakfast. Next, we'll visit a rubber processing factory to observe the fascinating drying, quality selection, and packaging of rubber sheets. Back to the guest house to savor a simple local home made lunch. Rest of the day at leisure to explore the surrounding village and see the local village activity. Dinner and overnight at the guest house.

Notes:
If weather conditions prevent you from seeing the turtles on the first night, you will have a second chance to participate in the turtle-watching program on your second night.

Day 3 | Sukamade - Green Bay - Banyuwangi (B)

Then, it's time to bid farewell to Sukamade guest house and venture out of the jungle towards Green Bay. Upon arrival at the Green Bay viewpoint, a leisurely 30-minute downhill walk leads us to this picturesque beach, where you can soak up the sun, enjoy a refreshing swim, and simply unwind amidst nature's beauty. Finally, we'll depart Green Bay and drive back towards Banyuwangi or your next destination.
